Anyone interested in a collaborative book?
As a DM my favorite game-aid of all time is City of Lies. Lots of interesting NPC's and a wealth of game information. I can't say I have a tremendous amount of experience writing anything but I consider myself a decent DM with original ideas. Anyhow, I thought it'd be fun for a small group of people to collaborate on some type of setting book. A location with interwoven plots and detailed NPC's, etc. Anyone interested? It'd be more fun to do it as a group but I was going to do something similiar anyway.

I am not a writer either, but I would be glad to throw in some ideas.

i've been working on an Imperial Winter Court competition, kinda like an uber-topaz tournament thingy. If you're interested in 8 possible competitions, i'd be glad to offer it up.

well it seems like we've got people interested. So perhaps we should try talking about where the setting is located? I'm a big supporter of getting more info out there on minor clans, but also think that a border town/city between any two (three?) great clans would be an interesting location. Your ideas?

I made a 120 pages books with some others about Mamoru Kyotei Toshi, a city at the border between Phoenix, Crane and Lion.

I'm a fan of minor clans as well. One thing I think would be interesting would be a town in the Cherry Blossom Lake area. Scorpions to the North, Crabs to the South, Crane to the East, and The Shinomen Forest to the West, and the surrounding area is a "tourist" hotspot to there is an excuse to have quite a few visitors from nearly any clan. Yet the immediate area isn't all that detailed.

hmm..I wouldn't mind this area myself. There's a yearly festival in the area, no? Does anyone remember fictions well enough to know if any have been placed here?

They have a yearly festival when peoples came to meditate under the trees. It's Hare clan territroy here, and near it you have the Red Crane secret dojo of the Scorpion and Mura no kin, a village with a gold mine really dangerous because of the weakness of the mountain.

Footnote village is described in Secrets of the Lion. Outsider keep can be used, but it would looks a lot like the actual keep described in Secrets of the Unicorn. For the plain of thunder, their is actually just next to it the biggest monks of Osano-wo temple and a small village with it. I can look at my map for small villages with really little description.

Is it Hare clan territory? They're listed as being much farther north on the map and this lake is on the FAR southern end of the Shinomen.

It depends of wich edition you speak of... the problems of maps in L5r...
