AOTD Phoenix Katas By the RAW, what weapons can these katas be used with?

All kata can only be used with melee weapons or unarmed attacks unless the kata says otherwise. (3E p 193)

Basically what I am getting at is can I use my sword, or unarmed attakcs, even though they are strongly suggesting that these katas are for use with naginata or other spears?

As a related question, does the Shiba Artisan advanced school remplace the Shiba Artisan from the sup ?
The katas :
- the beak pierces : only used in naginata-kaiwa duels, so only with polearms and spears.
- the phoenix's haven : can be used with anything... Should be ruled.
- Swoop of the wing : it's written can only be used with polearms and spears.

The katas :
- the beak pierces : only used in naginata-kaiwa duels, so only with polearms and spears.
Actually, the kata only grants bonus Void Points inside anaginata-kaiwa duel. The Void expenditure ability lists no such limitation.

But those duels can be performed only with polearms and spears, so it's the limitation.
