Shawn speaks
Shawn's reply to an email I sent: > Hello again Hey Darrin. > I haven't talk to you or seen you on IRC for a while and I have > not seen you make a ruling for quite sometime. I have some > issues that need to be covered. I am not in IRC as frequently as I used to be, and I vary my username pretty much daily. So that probably makes it hard to track me down. I had really, REALLY hoped to get both the Rules Question thread and the WotOH update done over Christmas break, but despite that the office was closed somehow the guys in Brand kept tracking me down and asking me to do things. At least I got a lot of work done on the new book. :P > First, many of my playtesters still have not been given playtest forum view > access. I have given all of them their NDAs but I do not know which ones > AEG has received. The current list of my playtest group is as follows: I'll fix that tonight. I finally have the authority to do that! > I need to know if those player have been approved for playtest > and if they have then I need them to have RPG playtest view access. Eh, I get sick of waiting around for the office. If you say you sent in their NDAs, that's good enough for me. > My playtesters have been doing extensive work on Way of the Open > hand and are currently designing and converting all the maneuvers from > WotOH as well as creating a standardized system for acquiring these > maneuvers. Cool. If you get it all finished I'd be happy to review it and post it with full credit to your group, if you like. > My playetsers and my current clique of rules lawyers have created a > board call the Jourei Bengoshi (Rules Lawyers) to discuss the more > intricate nature and more assine rules questions. I have seen it. > I hope that you will start visiting so that we can discuss the more messy > isssues with the rules instead of forcing you to make rulings without > exploring all the issues. Sure. What's the address again? > Also, we are currently working with Dace and others to make a new > FAQ. However many rules issues remain unanswered. We have > done our best to answer the rules questions of posters they best we > can by just citing the Rules as Written, but there are several issue > that need official rulings and many of these ruling cannot be done > lightly without AEH knowing the consequences of any such rulings. I understand completely. > We hope to use our board to work with you in refining and clearing > up many of the recurring rule issues and question as well as future > possible questions and getting them explored in detail and answered > before the become a problem. Is access to the board restricted or can anyone see it? > With Rich no longer working on the RPG and your busy schedule, > few AEG posters have the knowledge and/or authority to answer > complicated rules questions and fewer have the authority to make > official rulings. > > I would like such authority. I've asked about that before and never gotten an answer. As far as I'm concerned it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission and all that jazz. So, I'll make an announcement sometime this week to that effect, and you can put "Official Rules Deputy" or whatever in your .sig file. Obviously I don't have the authority to authorize any kind of compensation, and for that matter I haven't even been able to get anyone to answer my questions about making mods, but I'll see what I can do (again) about making you a mod in the Players forum. > My Jourei Bengoshi group would like to go through and reedit the > School Update Project in order to bring all the techs to ensure > consistent tempting of wording as well as changing texts to fit rulings > that have been made. I didn't go through School updates 1 and 2 > and the quality of the text compared to 3 -5 that I did go through > shows. I'd like to fix that and make the School update project truly great. I don't think it's that big a deal, but if you guys feel strongly about it, knock yourselves out! Shawn

I understand completely. Yes. This is proving to be completely unmanageable in it's current form. I have to cross reference so many posts to find out what is being currently used as a canon ruleset it is insane.

Yes. This is proving to be completely unmanageable in it's current form. I have to cross reference so many posts to find out what is being currently used as a canon ruleset it is insane. My new plan is to organize the FAQ in the manner I have showed in my outline, then go through all of Shawn and Rich's posts and simply put the final info into the FAQ in a "This tech does this" and then after that put the relevant post that create dit. I will then make a FAQ that is abridged and just has the info and not citations.

Togashi Shinjitsu- 01-22-2007

I will then make a FAQ that is abridged and just has the info and not citations. I can give you the collated information that I have currently. I am finding that I just don't have the time available on line to dedicate to this properly.

Doji Tsukaede- 01-22-2007

I can give you the collated information that I have currently. I am finding that I just don't have the time available on line to dedicate to this properly. I have the time a desire and new need due to my new authority. Email me anythign you got to: thetimebinder@gmail.com
