Strength of the Earth and Movement Penalties
Does Strength of the Earth negate movement penalties as well as wound penalties?

Torquemada- 03-08-2007

I think Yes, Hida are like T800. But You can slow them if you like to a max of half their original move.

Miren- 03-08-2007

I wasn't referring to any of the Hida bushi school techniques. I was referring to the Advantage "Strength of the Earth".

Torquemada- 03-08-2007

Yes, sorry, but for me it's a trademark of the Hida clan ;) It is said "Malus due to wound is reduced..." without precision. I think that you can also reduce the move malus.

Toku Yojiro- 03-08-2007

SotE reduces wound level penalties. Wound levels don't give penalties to movement, or even to your Water Ring, they reduce your Water Ring for purposes of movement. IOW, SotE doesn't help with movement reduction due to Wounds.

Miren- 03-08-2007

Which means that even if you have 3 ranks of SotE, if your enemies reduce your movement to -3 Water, and you have 3 or less Water, they can just pelt you with ranged attacks until you drop?

Asahina Inu- 03-08-2007

Which means that even if you have 3 ranks of SotE, if your enemies reduce your movement to -3 Water, and you have 3 or less Water, they can just pelt you with ranged attacks until you drop?Pretty much. Strength of the Earth only eliminates the numerical penalties listed to the right of the Wound Ranks Heading. The rest of the affects of wounds still occur. By the way though you are never completely immobilized by wounds unless you are at the Down wound level and have no Void remaining with which to take an action. Since there is a bottom cap on rings and traits of 1 your effective Water cannot be reduced below 1 and therefore one always has a movement of at least 10'. Note that the benifits of fleet, or the additional movement granted by the Shadowlands Power:Uncanny Speed, may not be reduced by wound penalties either as they are not dependant on the Water Ring.

Isawa_Chuckles- 03-08-2007

There's not necessarily a bottom cap on traits. Tsu found an instance where traits and rings can hit 0.

Asahina Inu- 03-08-2007

There's not necessarily a bottom cap on traits. Tsu found an instance where traits and rings can hit 0.Just curious where was that at?

Torquemada- 03-09-2007

Another question for the move penalty : It is said in the Bibl ... her ... the rulesbook that the movement is the water ring x 10 in a round (6 seconds) Yes, Oki Doki, but the final result is what ? Meters ? Yards ? Santon ? (viva Galactica !)

Toku Yojiro- 03-09-2007

Feet. That's what the apostrophe ' stands for.

Torquemada- 03-09-2007

No apostrophe in my French Edition :o/

Toku Yojiro- 03-09-2007

That's because we euros generally use the metric system, I assume.

Asahina Inu- 03-09-2007

That's because we euros generally use the metric system, I assume. It probably got accidentally edited out for that reason. The french editor probably went, "WTF is this random apostrophe doing here? Lets get rid of it."

Okuma- 03-10-2007

Gods, I had pointed this error and they did nothing !
