Of what version of the game are we talking about ? I can't remember wound penalties in 3rd edition to reduce your effective water ring. Wound penalties in 3rd reduce your movement rating (which is water x 5 feet) by the amount given in the appropriate wound rank and they can reduce your movement to zero (pg. 166: "Wounds") So Strength of the Earth does reduce movement penalties caused by wounds. Or am I getting something fatally wrong ?

The french editor probably went, "WTF is this random apostrophe doing here? Lets get rid of it." Just a guess, but I'm thinking "Sacre blue!" instead of "WTF". :P

So Strength of the Earth does reduce movement penalties caused by wounds. Or am I getting something fatally wrong ? Wounds don't give penalties to movement. They simply reduce it. Since there are no penalties and SotE only applies to penalties, it cannot apply in this instance. Moreover, look at the numbers - if the movement reduction was a penalty, even the 2-point version of SotE would be sufficient to remove all movement reductions. That can't be right.

Uhm while rereading the paragraph I found what I was missing for a long time ... I never read through the Wound Level descriptions, where the Water reduction is described ... oh my, I feel ashamed now

Or am I getting something fatally wrong ? Not fatally, but quite significantly. Hurt (+10) At this level, the pain begins to interfere with your ability to move. You suffer a +10 TN penalty to all actions and your Water Ring is reduced by one for the purposes of movement. Crippled (+20) You are barely able to stand upright. You suffer a +20 TN penalty to all actions and your Water Ring is reduced by three for the purposes of movement. Down (+40) You are effectively incapacitated. You cannot move, and can speak only in a whisper. You must spend a Void Point to take any action whatsoeever, and even then you suffer a +40 TN penalty to all your actions and move as if your Water Ring was reduced by five. And by the Rules as Written, Strength of the Earth would not reduce these penalties as they are not TN based.
