Sympathetic energies and silent waters Transfer a silent waters to someone with sympathetic energies and now they count as casting it.
Sure non-shugenja dont have spell slots but page 224 clearly says "You may spend a void point to gain an additional spell slot."
Thus you can fulfill silent waters required spell slot. And here we see the shiba bushi with armour of the earth active... etc.
This makes void replenshing characters awesome in conjunction with water shugenja!

Personally, the changes I have been thinking that I would like to see for Silent Waters and Sympathetic Energy...
Removing the spell slot requirement entirely from Silent Waters, the wording on it is just weird and you already have a kami in you to perform the spell so why do you need to use a spell slot to summon another?
Limiting the number of active castings (water kami) to the individuals Water ring (no more water kami in your soul, then there is Water in it).
Clearing up what exactly the 'trigger' can be. (I already posted a long bit about that on the AEG thread about SW.)
If you do allow it to be Sympathetic Energy'd to non-shugenja, since non-shugenja can't talk to the kami can they really use spells that target anyone but themselves? (Which means they can't talk to the kami to tell them who to go kill (so no bushi running around with multiple Jade Strikes), but the kami should still recognize that they have been hit for the 'heal me when I get hit' trigger.)
A question to go with this as well (on top of all my other questions about SW from the AEG forums):
When a spell gets SW'd, the SE'd, and then triggered... SE says that the person who has the spell is now the caster, SW says 'as if it has just been cast'... if a Rank 4 shugenja SE'd a SW'd "Wisdom of the Kami" to a Rank 1 shugenja (making it simple for the sake of this example) who then triggered it, would it use the Rank 1 shug's school rank for the spell effect or the Rank 4 of the shugenja who originally cast it? (Still a little hung up on the whole 'is the spell actually cast when triggered' vs 'spell effect is released as it was originally cast when stored' bit.)

Spell being cast means it can be counterspelled and every effect ongoing when a spell is cast can be activated. The cost of a slot could means the kami need energy to produce the effect, after all he used his own to store the spell...

Well, think about it like this...
I pick up the apple (cast Path to Inner Peace) and put it in my lunch sack (Silent Waters) to eat later. Later my stomach grumbles (the trigger) and I go to eat the apple (release the Path to Inner Peace). Why should I need to sacrifice another piece of food (another spell slot) just to eat the apple I stored earlier?
I mean, you already spent a spell slot on Silent Waters, and the spent a spell slot to cast whatever spell you are storing. So the energy for the spell to be released has already been gathered and expended. If you have to go to the effort to gather and expend the energy again, what are you really gaining from Silent Waters?
(Okay, admittedly, if it doesn't cost an action at all for the trigger to go off and the spell to be released, then you are gaining from Silent Waters a spell cast faster then the normal one action minimum.)
Spell being cast means it can be counterspelled and every effect ongoing when a spell is cast can be activated.
Even if it does cost an action to activate, unless 'as if it had just been cast' means you have to spend multiple rounds / actions for Mastery 2 and Mastery 3 spells to activate (which just seems odd) no one ever has the chance to counterspell the spell being released since they would have to cast the counterspell on their action and they can't suddenly leap into the middle of your turn to do so. One round spells mean they end and activate on your own action, the same one you starting casting them in.
I would assume that one action activation of said spells means they also activate on your own action and thus have begun and ended before anyone else can respond or take a turn. Which still leaves me wondering what the change in that wording from the 2nd to 3rd edition is meant to accomplish.

If your apple was put in your a refrigerated bag, you would spent energy keeping it cold and need to refill the batteries after.
