This is an old problem almost immediately recognized when the book came out. I don't think it was ever fixed.

The rank 4 technique is the problem, not the rank 5.
BB's free raises can't be used for +5 to hit.

BB's free raises can't be used for +5 to hit.Oopa. I thought that this was the one he was talking about. Only half assed read the post. Anytime I see the words "Shinjo Bushi" and "broken" together I immediately assume that they are talking about the rank 4 tech that allows you to auto succeed.

was that a shawnism? cos thats not in the book?I don't know if that was an exact quote or not. Regardless It ws ruled that in order for BB to actually work the roll has to already be successful. Meaning that even if you did use the BB for +5 to the roll, you could only do so if you already met the original TN with your base roll making the use of free raises in this manner rather redundant.

I have already informed Shawn of the Rank 4 and Rank 5 techs.
They clearly needs to make the roll a success with no raises.
