Yoritomo Bushi and Peasant Weapons
The Yoritomo Bushi's rank 1 technique states that they suffer no off-hand, or two weapon fighting penalties when weilding "peasant weapons." Now my question is does this refer to the weapons under the Weapon Skill Peasant Weapons or does it refer to any weapon used by peasants? There are several weapons that say that peasants use them in their descriptions. Nunchaku Tonfa Bo Jitte and Sai Thanks!

In addition, "peasant weapon" in the technique description is not capitalized, meaning it's a common noun and not a proper noun. If it were proper noun, I would immediatly side with it only working on weapons that fall under the Peasant Weapons skill description, however its use as a common noun intuits its application to any peasant weaponry. This also plays into mild annoyance at weapons that have traditionally been peasant-use being shunted into different categories (such as Staves). Weapons that, in earlier editions, were stated to be in common use as peasant items are no longer labeled clearly as such.

I think they did that so that it was clear which weapons went with which weapon skills. Ninja weapons are another category that is all spread out among the weapons.

Actually, that wasn't quite what Shawn said (I should know, he was answering my question). What Shawn said was that by the letter of the rules you could only use weapons with the Peasant Weapon description, but that he would allow anyone playing in a game he ran to use any weapon with the attendant social stigma.
