There appears to be a restructuring of the RPG forums. I'm a bit concerned with the setup as apparently you are not allowed to ask any sort of rules related questions in the main RPG forum and no one is allowed to respond to the posts in the special forum except for L5R designers and Darrin apparently. I'm not sure if this is going to work out so well. I mean Darrin's already got a lot on his hands and design rarely has a chance to jump in. What does everyone else think? What happened to the air of helping out your fellow forum mate? I can see why this format is done for the CCG where clear concise rulings need to be present without any confusion for fair play, but it baffles me that this is being done with the RPG forums. I mean I like the idea of a rules forums, to better delineate forums, but the idea of closing things off to discussion seems kind of weird.

While I hardly like the situation, I think that it was getting to the point where it was necessary.

Lots of people were getting homebrew answers when official answers were available, and some posters were using the forum as a location to flame the design, the rules, and the process for generating errata.

I hope it will eventually go back to a free response type forum, but since AEG seems fairly happy with how the rules forum format works for the CCG, I don't imagine they'll be changing it back any time soon.

My problem is that there isn't any appropriate forum where rules can be discussed, so if someone say has a concern with say the power level of rule X as written and is looking for others opinions on the matter, it cannot be discussed in either the Homebrew forums(as it isn't creating anything new) and can't be discussed in the Rules forum as that forum seems like it is only going to be allowed to be used for Rules questions, and can't be discussed in the main RPG forum as it is Rules related.

Basically what I am saying is that it was stated that Rules related discussions weren't allowed in anything but the Rules forum upon pain of banning, but no one is allowed to actually discuss the rules, aside from asking rules questions that only the devs are allowed to respond to, in the Rules Forum upon pain of banning.

EDIT:

I just reread the announcement, and am glad to find out that rules discussion is permitted in the RPG forum, so I guess everything is cool.
Glad to know that I was mistaken on that part. I was scared there for a minute.
